First I scanned in an image of one of the aliens in the spacesuits, hands raised. I then scanned in an image of one of the alien's heads, blending this into the helmet of the spacesuit. I then scanned in an image of the Third Doctor, placing this on the lower right. As there are only two pictures of Liz Shaw available, and neither of them were suitable for this cover, I decided instead to use an image of the Brigadier, placing this on the lower left. I copied this and overlaid it over the original, creating a slight 'zoom' effect. Next I scanned in an image of the outside of the Space Control entrance, using this as a background image. Next I created a 'ripple effect' in the background around the area of the alien's hands, and copied and moved each ripple up and in to add an element of movement to the cover. Finally I added a red to yellow wash over the entire cover.
