The Adric Awards were created in 1995 by Steve Traylen, and have been held annually ever since on rec.arts.drwho. In 2002, alt.drwho.creative decided to split away and run their Award categories separately.
The Adrics usually follow this organisational format. First, nominations are called for in each category. These are then voted on by the denizens of RADW and ADWC, with the most popular nominees being placed on the finalists ballot. In the past a ceremony was held on IRC to present the awards. In recent years this ceremony was moved to RADW. Following the excesses of the 1999-2000 Adric Awards, subsequent hosts have worked hard to cut the entire awards process and ceremony back to make it more managable, and to create less clutter on RADW.
